Rocket League: A Beginner’s Guide

Rocket League is a rocket-powered car soccer game developed and published by Psyonix. Originally launched in July 2015, Rocket League has won more than 150 “Game of the Year” awards and is one of the most popular esports games of all time. When counting the number of players, the Rocket League community consists of a player base of more than 60 million.

The underlying idea behind Rocket League is very similar to football (or soccer if you happen to be from the U.S.A). A player must hit a ball into their opponent’s goal to score and the team who scores the most goals wins the game. The difference in Rocket League is that this all happens in a closed cage with rocket-powered cars that can boost themselves around the map and jump in the air in order to hit the ball or other players.

What makes Rocket League so much fun is that players have the option to do acrobatic moves in the air. You can flip and spin the car around without the physical limitations that we have in the real world. It takes years to master these in-game movement mechanics, and due to this, Rocket League has been considered by some to be the hardest game to master.
