How we cover CS2

Scores come from PandaScore. Live scores update within a minute. Coverage includes BLAST, ESL Pro League, IEM, PGL and every Valve Major, plus the top regional leagues.

How to watch CS2 live

BLAST events stream on twitch.tv/blastpremier with a YouTube simulcast; ESL Pro League and IEM on twitch.tv/eslcs (and twitch.tv/eslcsb when matches run at the same time). Each event also runs German, French, Russian, Polish and Portuguese broadcasts on partner channels. The English casts at BLAST and ESL are both excellent, so it mostly comes down to which event is on. Tarik (a former CS pro turned streamer) co-streams some events.

Frequently asked questions about CS2

What format do CS2 Majors use?

Since 2025, Majors have 32 teams. Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 are Swiss stages: each stage adds newly invited teams, and the top eight move on. The last eight teams play a single-elimination playoff bracket. Invites come from the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), so the old RMR qualifiers are gone. The Swiss format splits fans (some like that 0–3 teams go home fast, others miss GSL groups), but it isn't going away.

How are CS2 teams ranked?

There's no single ranking everyone agrees on. Valve's own is the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), which updates through the year and decides who gets invited to each Major. HLTV's ranking is the one fans quote most, and ESL has its own points-based world ranking. They often disagree, so if you're picking favorites for a tournament, check more than one.

Where do the best CS2 broadcasts live?

BLAST events are on twitch.tv/blastpremier. ESL Pro League and IEM are on twitch.tv/eslcs, with twitch.tv/eslcsb for matches running at the same time. PGL gets its own channel for each event. The English casts at BLAST and ESL are both excellent, and most events also broadcast in German, French, Russian, Polish and Portuguese.

How is CS2 different from CS:GO competitively?

Same round economy, same circuit, and a similar map pool (Anubis, Train and others rotate in and out). The main mechanical changes: Source 2's sub-tick system replaced 64/128-tick servers, smokes now react to bullets and grenades, and peeking feels slightly different. Pros adapted within a few months, but the early CS2 period drew real complaints. Results carry straight over: CS2 history continues from CS:GO with the same teams.

What's the difference between Bo1, Bo3, and Bo5?

Bo1 is a single map (about 45–60 minutes). Bo3 is first to two maps (about 2.5–3.5 hours), the format you want when stakes matter. Bo5 is first to three and shows up in some grand finals. If you're new to CS, start with a Bo3 playoff match at a Major rather than a Bo1 group game.

CS2 terminology

Bo1 / Bo3 / Bo5
Best-of-N maps. Bo3 is the standard for serious matches; Bo5 is used in some grand finals.
Map veto
The pre-match phase where teams take turns banning and picking maps from the active pool until the series's maps are set.
VRS
Valve Regional Standings: Valve's ranking of teams by region. It decides which teams are invited to each Major, and to which stage.
Sub-tick
CS2's replacement for fixed 64/128-tick servers. It registers the exact moment of an action instead of rounding to the nearest tick. Top players still complain about it.
Major
Valve's own top tournament, held twice a year, with sticker sales shared with the teams. The events teams build their season around.
