twitch.tv/OverwatchEsports and the official Overwatch esports YouTube channel carry the international OWCS events. Regional leagues stream on their own channels, with Korean and Japanese casts for the Asian leagues. Many of the OWL-era English casters moved over to OWCS, so the broadcasts feel familiar if you watched OWL.

What is OWCS?

The Overwatch Champions Series is Blizzard's official pro circuit, running since 2024. Regional leagues in North America, EMEA, Asia (Korea, Japan and Pacific) and China feed the Midseason Championship at the Esports World Cup and the World Finals at the end of the year. It's a more traditional setup than the old Overwatch League: open qualifiers, regional leagues and international LANs.

How is OWCS different from the Overwatch League?

The Overwatch League (OWL) was franchised: 20 city-based teams paid huge fees for permanent spots. The model didn't work. Viewership fell after the first season, travel between home cities was hard to run, and the league ended in 2023. OWCS replaced it in 2024 with regional leagues and open competition, like most other esports.

Where can I watch Overwatch matches live?

OWCS streams on twitch.tv/OverwatchEsports and the official Overwatch esports YouTube channel. Regional leagues have their own channels, and there are Korean and Japanese casts for the Asian leagues. Many of the OWL-era casters still work OWCS broadcasts.

What's the meta like in current Overwatch?

Overwatch 2 moved from 6v6 (2 tanks, 2 DPS, 2 supports) to 5v5 (1 tank, 2 DPS, 2 supports) in late 2022. Blizzard has since brought back a 6v6 mode for casual play, but OWCS plays 5v5. Games are faster than in the 6v6 days, and teams swap heroes mid-match. Korean teams still dominate Asia, as they did in OWL.
