About MLBB esports
How we cover MLBB
Scores come from PandaScore. Live scores update within a minute. Coverage includes the regional MPL (Mobile Legends Professional League) seasons, with the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and MENA the biggest by viewers, plus the yearly M Series World Championship.
How to watch MLBB live
MPL seasons stream mainly on YouTube and Facebook Gaming. Facebook is the default for Filipino and Indonesian fans and often beats Twitch numbers for this game by a wide margin. Moonton's YouTube channel carries the M Series World Championship with English commentary. Blacklist International, ONIC Esports and RRQ Hoshi are among the biggest teams and a good place to start if you're new.
Frequently asked questions about MLBB
What is MPL?
The Mobile Legends Professional League is Moonton's regional pro circuit. Separate MPL leagues run in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and MENA, each with its own teams and playoffs. The Philippines and Indonesia leagues draw by far the biggest audiences; in both countries MLBB is closer to a national sport than a niche esport.
What is the M Series World Championship?
The M Series (M1, M2, M3 and so on, one each year) is MLBB's world championship, with the top teams from every MPL plus wildcard qualifiers. It's the one event where Filipino and Indonesian teams, who mostly play in their own leagues, meet head-to-head, which is why it draws the biggest numbers of the year.
Why is MLBB so much bigger in Southeast Asia than in the West?
Mobile internet came first. Much of the Philippines and Indonesia went from no home broadband straight to smartphones, so a free mobile MOBA that runs on cheap phones became the main competitive game instead of LoL or Dota 2. Moonton also invested early in local broadcasts and stable leagues in exactly those markets.
How is MLBB different from League of Legends competitively?
Same basic shape (three lanes, jungle, drafts, objectives), but built for phones: shorter games (15–20 minutes on average vs. 25–35 in LoL), a simpler item shop, and battle spells instead of summoner spells. The faster pace rewards aggressive early rotations more than LoL's slower macro game.
MLBB terminology
- MPL
- Mobile Legends Professional League: Moonton's regional pro circuit, with a separate league per country or region.
- M Series
- The yearly MLBB world championship, with top teams from every MPL. Numbered in order (M1, M2…).
- Jungler / Roamer
- Two of MLBB's five roles. The jungler farms neutral camps for gold and experience; the roamer (support) gives vision and sets up ganks. Similar to LoL's jungle and support.
- Draft phase
- Hero bans and picks before each game, as in LoL or Dota. It matters more than it looks, because MLBB's smaller hero pool makes counter-picks stronger.
- Turtle / Lord
- MLBB's two big neutral objectives: the Turtle (early-mid game gold and buff) and the Lord (late-game push), roughly like LoL's Rift Herald and Baron.
