The Salt Lake City champions are through in Osaka
Phase 1 of the BLAST R6 Major Osaka is an eight-team play-in that sends four teams to the 16-team Swiss stage. The two upper-semifinal winners took the first two spots on Friday.
DarkZero Esports, who won the last Major in Salt Lake City in May, won their best of one against TYLOO and then swept LOS 2-0 in the upper semifinal. Virtus.pro won in three maps against Weibo Gaming in their upper semifinal. LOS and Weibo get a second chance in the lower bracket.
Call of Duty’s new season opens with an upset
The Monster Launch Invitational, the first event of the 2027 Call of Duty League season, opened with all four of its groups on Friday. The upset came in the Group B opener, where Huntsmen, OpTic Gaming’s Challengers team, won 3-2 against FaZe Vegas as 9.5% underdogs on Polymarket.
FaZe Vegas won the 2026 CDL Championship in July, but Simp is the last of that winning four still on the team. The champions stayed alive with a lower-bracket win over M80 Boston, while Toronto KOI won the Winners Match against Huntsmen to top Group B.

JDG have won all three of their knockout series, 12 games to 4, and wait for their opponent in the grand final on Nov 14 in Chengdu.
