The long way back to EDG
It was the second lower-bracket series in a row that LGD won from 2-3 down. Against Kuaishou Gaming on Nov 1, they lost games four and five, then won the last two.
LGD and EDG had come out of the same Challenge Stage group, the Elite Group. EDG won it and went straight into the knockout stage, while LGD got there through the Play-In Stage, with a 4-0 win against Hero JiuJing.
The two then met in the upper-bracket quarterfinals, and EDG won that series. After a 2-4 loss to Weibo Gaming on Nov 3, EDG dropped down and met LGD again.
In our records, which start in July 2025, LGD won the first five meetings between the teams and EDG the next three. Thursday’s win ended EDG’s run of three, and with it their KPL season: the Grand Finals is the league’s last event of 2026.
What’s next for LGD NBW
LGD play Talent Gaming in the lower-bracket semifinal. The winner meets the loser of JD Gaming vs Weibo Gaming for a place in the grand final in Chengdu.
