RL TheMongolz upset FURIA and go straight to the Beijing semifinals
TheMongolz won the Group A upper final 2-1 against FURIA on Wednesday after losing the first map, and top the group at IEM Beijing.
Polymarket gave TheMongolz about one chance in four before the Group A upper final against FURIA on Wednesday. TheMongolz dropped Inferno, then won Cache and Dust2 for a 2-1 win that puts them straight into the semifinals of IEM Beijing.
Two wins in six
The win was only TheMongolz’s second in six meetings with FURIA in our records, which start in July 2025. FURIA came in 3rd in the Valve Regional Standings released on Monday, with TheMongolz 17th.
Holding on to Dust2
FURIA lost the first four rounds of Inferno, then led the map from the eleventh round to the end. On Cache, TheMongolz were never behind and won five rounds in a row soon after the half.
The decider was the tight one. TheMongolz were three rounds up on Dust2 with five to play, when FURIA won three in a row to tie it. TheMongolz answered with the last two rounds to close out the series.
