BetBoom get past Aurora at the third try in Beijing

Aurora Gaming managed only ten rounds in two maps against BetBoom Team on Wednesday, and the loss knocked them out of IEM Beijing. BetBoom took the Group B lower-bracket semifinal 2-0, their first win over Aurora in three meetings in our records.

On Mirage, BetBoom won eight of the twelve first-half rounds on the T side, then gave Aurora a single round after the switch.

Cache followed the same pattern from the other side. BetBoom won eight rounds on the CT side in the first half, and Aurora again took just one round in the second, so both maps ended with the same score. Aurora never won more than four rounds in a half.

The favorites on paper

Aurora started the day as the favorites. They were 4th in the Valve Regional Standings released on Monday, two places above BetBoom, and Polymarket listed BetBoom at 45% before the first map.

They had the history too. Aurora won 2-0 against BetBoom in the Cologne Major playoffs in June and 2-1 in ESL Pro League in October, the only other meetings in our records, which go back to July 2025.

Aurora opened Beijing with a 2-0 loss to Liquid on Monday and stayed alive on Tuesday when they took G2 to overtime on Dust II, the third map, and won it. That was their only series win of the event.

What’s next for BetBoom

BetBoom play Liquid, who won 2-0 against TYLOO in the other lower semifinal, in the Group B lower final. The winner takes the group’s last playoff place, a quarterfinal as the low seed.
