IEM Beijing has lost its only home team. Team Liquid knocked out TYLOO with a 2-0 win in Group B on Wednesday, a day after a 0-2 loss to PARIVISION dropped Liquid to the lower bracket.

TYLOO started Mirage on the T side and took four of the first five rounds. Then Liquid won ten in a row, a run that started in the middle of the first half and carried on after the switch.

That still did not settle the map. Liquid reached map point and stayed there for five rounds. TYLOO, on the CT side by then, won four straight to get within one before Liquid closed it out.

Anubis was one-sided from the start: Liquid opened on the CT side with seven straight rounds, and TYLOO won only one round in the whole first half.

A home event cut short

TYLOO reached Beijing through the Asian qualifier. They lost their opening match 0-2 to MOUZ, and on Tuesday they kept their event alive with a 2-0 over 9z that needed overtime on Cache.

Liquid came in as the favorites. They were 21st in the Valve Regional Standings released on Monday, with TYLOO 59th, and Polymarket listed Liquid at about 65% before the first map. Liquid also won both earlier meetings in our records 2-1, the second of them at the Budapest Major last December.

What’s next for Liquid

Liquid play BetBoom, who sent Aurora out 2-0 in the same time slot, in the lower-bracket final. The winner takes Group B’s last playoff place.
