Before Osaka
Weibo Gaming won 2-0 against Sharper Esports in the APL Asia Stage 2 upper-bracket final on Oct 16. Sharper came back through the lower bracket and won the grand final rematch 2-1 a week later.
Sharper’s title sent them straight to the Swiss stage and left Weibo in Phase 1, the play-in. Of the Asia Pacific League’s divisions, only the Asia and Oceania winners skipped it.
Dplus came in on a better run. They won all three of their APAC North Stage 2 playoff series, the last of them 2-0 against CAG by VARREL on Oct 24.
What’s next for Weibo Gaming
One more series win, a best-of-three against Virtus.pro or KINGZERO, takes Weibo Gaming to the Swiss stage.
